Pro tips: Passing the NCLEX the 1st TIME!

The NCLEX test is a daunting exam that is a bane to the existence of many graduate nurses! There are many resources out there to help prepare for the big day! Our recommendations are to BE CAREFUL with the prep-program that you decide to invest in. Go by proven results from fellow nurses, not just reviews posted by the program.

Below are some Studying Tips from our NCLEX Pros:

Marathon not a sprint

◦ You could have up to 145 questions or 5 hours of testing, so it is important to pace yourself!
◦ Don’t burn yourself out on questions that are “Trench Questions”. These are ones that cause you to dig yourself into a ditch and ultimately burning valuable time and even more valuable brain power on. These are many to burn you out. Don’t fall into their trap. Give them your BEST “educated guess”, then move on!

Frequent break during the test is a must!
◦ It is our recommendation to take a break every 30-40 questions. During this time, you can take a formal break by raising your hand to stop your test and stand up, or simply taking a quick 30 second break to rub your eyes, stretch your body and mentally refresh for your next set of questions.

Each question is an island and not connected to others
◦ Remember, the NCLEX knows that nursing students LOVE to CHANGE their answers! This is eliminated by the test not allowing you to flag questions, return and change you Answers! One study showed that 70% of the time, college students found that following gut and selecting the first answer was the correct one!
